Google Renames Froogle to “Google Product Search”

Google Product Search LogoGoogle announced today that Froogle (Google’s way to help you find things to buy), is now renamed as “Google Product Search”. They say this will be less confusing for people, so that they actually know what it does.

You can know find the Google Product Search at the following URL:

http://www.google.com/products

Personally, I think the name change is silly. “Google Product Search” is quite a mouthful, isn’t very unique and doesn’t have the same ring to it as “Froogle” does. It’d be like is Google called Gmail “Google Electronic Online Mail”. 😛 The new name is 19 letters, 12 more letters then the previous name, Froogle.

It also seems that Google put together the name change pretty quickly. Especially since the Google Product Search logo is just the normal Google Logo with the text “Product Search” and “BETA” positioned around it, not just an image.

What do you think of the name change of “Froogle” (now Google Product Search)?
